Held annually on Friday of Labor Day Weekend. Community leaders gather to celebrate the former Kentucky governor from Clay County and his contributions to the state (such as increasing funding for education, establishing KET and the community college system, starting the Child Welfare Department, expanding services to the mentally ill, and issuing an order forbidding racial discrimination in public places). Includes panel discussions, student performance, debates and scholarship awards.
